Hassan Hajjaj

(b. 1961) Born in Larache, Morocco in 1961, Hajjaj is a Fashion Designer, photographer, artist and Interior designer. He arrived in Britain in his teens and was much influenced by the emerging club culture of London which at that time was absorbing many different styles of music and fashion. In 1984 he launched his own clothing and accessories label RAP. In his photographic work, Hassan Hajjaj playfully applies digital technology to redefine the North African imagery that pervaded his childhood. His solo exhibitions include one at the British Museum in 2005, and the Graffix from the Souk, exhibited in various locations in Morocco, France and the UK 2000-2003. His designs have been used widely in fashion and advertising as well as on album covers.
