Dhruvi Acharya

(b. 1971) Born in Mumbai, in 1971, Dhruvi Acharya graduated from Sophia Polytechnic with a degree in Commercial Arts – Illustration before receiving her post baccalaureate and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, in 1996 and 1998 respectively. Her work has been featured in several solo exhibitions including, most recently, ‘GASP’ at Kravets/Wehby Gallery, New York, in 2010; ‘One life on Earth’ at Nature Morte, New Delhi, and Chemould Prescott Road, Mumbai, in 2008; and ‘Two Plus Two Equals’ and ‘Figment’ at Chemould Prescott Road in 2006 and 2004 respectively. Her works have also been included in group shows across India and internationally. Dhruvi was awarded the Aditya Birla Kala Kiran Puraskar and nominated for the Joan Mitchell Foundation Award in 2006, and was featured on the cover of India Today in 2005. After spending nine years in the US, Dhruvi now lives and works in Mumbai.
